Yes Plussss +++++++++++

A friend of mine Vinod did Art of living course(YES plus) and was pestering me to join the program. I was in no mood to do anything. And spirituality was never my thing and philosophy, whats that?

“You have to do it dear.. It’s an awesome experience”

“What kind of thing is Art of living?, Isn’t that something to do with Sree Sree Ravishankar?”

“Yes, you will love it. It’s not just yoga and spirituality”

“Then whats it about? And I don’t believe in human Gods.. I don’t think its a good idea to do it”

And the pestering continued and almost a year later, Vinod convinced me to go for Yes+ course. My best friend Preeja was happy to join in.

It was the most wonderful 6 days of my life. Six days packed with fun and laughter. A rendezvous with 2 wonderful teachers. Ashwin ettan and Shalini chechi..

Shalini chechi and Ashwin ettan

There were 16 of us for that particular session. On the day of joining, each of us had to fill up a form with few questions and instruction to be followed for the coming week. One by one we met either of our teachers. Shalini chechi gave me instructions and asked me about the answers I gave in form.

“How much committed will you be during the course?”

“Well!!” I started of “I do not know, I came here to see whats happening”

“Will you give your 100%?”

That is something I always like. I am not bragging, but I like to give my 100% in everything I do. Be it my carrier or personal things. So obviously my answer was “Yes, I will”

The classes started with little yoga, mediation, games and fun. I actually started looking forward for the classes from the very start. I will not write everything about the classes, it will ruin your experience. The only thing I can tell is, its an awesome experience. I do not know how to put it in words as it is something beyond words.

I am usually a happy go lucky person. Yet I had few things which bothered me. Yes plus helped me to think of a solution and helped me calm down. Another good thing about the course is, I got a bunch of good friends.

Thank you Vinod :) I really owe this to you. Thank you Preeja. Without you I don’t think I would have ever joined Yes plus :)

A biryani’s story…

Oru biryani yude katha…

A boring holiday at  PG.. 4 girls fed up with Aunty’s food.. And most important ingredient of the story “hunger”.

4 girls in PG were bored to death as there was nothing much to do on an unexpected holiday. And around 1 pm, they saw their lunch… Yuck!!!!!! Rice, cabbage, some watery curry and lime pickle..

“Oh!! same old food. Wish I could eat a biryani” ,Arfu said.  There was a choas among the girls. All of sudden everyone wanted the same.

Ready… Set… wait, where to go?? It was decided they will go to Ceylon Bake house. One of the restaurants which sells the best birayani in the city.  Here we go to the CBH.

CBH was crowded and none of the tables were empty. You can guess, how good the biryani there tastes. We wanted biryani so badly and there wouldn’t be anything left to eat at PG now. We quickly decided to eat Kaayies..  They sell the best kozhikodan biryani. Now to Kaayies in a auto.

Me and Preeja have been there before. We both were searching for the exact place we sat last time. Anyways it turned out that there was no biryani there. It was already 3 pm. Still we could have had ghee rice or chappathi or something else. But Biryani was not there. And we desperately wanted to eat Biryani and ONLY biryani.

We came out of Kaayies and were thinking what next. “Why don’t we go for Naushad‘s resturant?” Preeja. Me and Archana agreed with her. Arfu just wanted biryani.  Now in an auto we were off to “Naushad Big Chef”.

Closing time of the restaurant is 4pm. And it was already 3.30pm. Somehow we managed to get a seat. The menu read Rs.160 for chicken Biryani. “Its too costly, we will try half plate then”

“4 half plate birayni’s please” -Archa

“We don’t serve half plate biryani, only full”

“okay then, 4 biryani please”

“Something to drink?”

“Wat do u have?”

“Lime, mint lime, fresh juice…”

Preeja and me almost shouted “mint lime”. We both were searching for mint lime for a long time.

“make it 4″

“Thank you for coming to NBC, your orders are placed”.

In 10 minutes, 4 bowls with steamy birayani was at our table.

“Amount is too less” Archa

“yeah, for Rs 160, it is too less” Preeja

“sob sob” Arfu

“its toooo lessss”, me

We started eating. I must say it was best biryani I ever had in my life. The quantity was good enough for a person with good apatite.  Meantime, they gave us our mint lime. Green in colour, tasted more of Kiwi fruit. Tastiest mint lime ever had.

Biryani was worth for Rs 160.  We calculated so it will cost us around 800 Rs max. Thats alright, 200 per head.

Bill came, we could round it to Rs 1000. “WHAT?????”. Mint lime had cost us Rs 70.  Whole biryani digested then and there. We paid the bill with sad face and came out.

But the biryani is worth 160 and we all did have a sumptuous lunch. :)

Our trip for biryani did have a happy ending.

Happy Friendship Day-2

Happy Friendship Day!!!!!

Well!! A second part or rather a second post on same topic :) Friendship is always the best thing that can happen in your life.

This time I will tell about new bunch of friends who became my best buddies I ever had :) No, I have not forgotten my old buddies, its just that I want to thank them :)

Almost an year and half before, I came to stay as a PG(paying guest) at a house near my office. The very same day, a tall but timid girl almost at the age of my sister, Preethi, joined as PG and both of us were is same room. There were 3 in our room. The other roomie was old grumpy female. Preethi was homesick, volatile but innocent. I have always seen her has a kid as she is young(NOT that I am old). We teamed up against our other roomie and we became good close friends. She is innocent, loving, yet short tempered sometimes. I admire the way she loves her brother, Prasanth. Prashanth a lovable, caring and responsible brother. Love you Preethi for everything you do and especially the way you are.

In another room there were 2 girls, Hridya and Preeja. Both warned us about our other roomie. And me and preethi always went to their room. Ate with them, went out with them, watched movies together, went to temples together. I never knew when I became close to Hridya and Preeja.

Me and Preeja used to talk for hours and hours.  She looks like a introvert to most, but she is not. She is a girl who cares and loves people near to her extravagantly. A person with heart of gold. Her respect towards her parents is admirable. I respect her for how she carefully sacrifices for the people whom she loves. An admirable person she is. Love you for that dear…

Hridya… A person who was deeply in love. She knows how to maintain each and every relations. A good planner, yet humorous, a kiddo sometimes, beautiful,  a person with immense determination. I love to go shopping with her.  She is everybody’s best friend. A good listener. Love you dear for all those little things you do to show that you care.

Me and preethi changed our room after fighting with our roomie. And one day, a girl came to our room, carrying her 2 big suitcases. She had only one thing to say “njan kalayanam kazhichu vegam povum”(I will get married soon and go from here). Archana. She passed on positive energy to each and every one who talked to her. She has  very good humor sense which we call pj(poor jokes). A person who loves everybody near her. Adorable. Loving and caring and hardworking. Love you honey for all you pjs and for what you are.

We five have shared everything together, did almost everything together. We have same wavelength and frequency. I never thought I would be close to anybody like this, but they showed me, girls are the bestest friends a girl can have. We discussed everything under the sun and beyond that. You make me smile each day.  I have had lifetime’s fun with you guys. Love you guys. You are the best… Ummmaaaahhhhh…

Happy friendship day to everyone who have a friend :)
