Valentine’s day

Its little early to right about valentine’s day. But, yes, I am doing it.  In another 10 days its gonna be valentine’s day. If you have a love, you will be planning for gifts for your loved ones or thinking on how to celebrate the day. If love never happened yet in your life, you will be wishing wholeheartedly for it. If there was any breakups in your life, you would be dreading the day.

For me, this year, it will go as any other day. I do believe if you are in love, everyday should be special for you.

Now I know the difference between love and possessiveness. Love is accepting how you are and let you be the same person. But possessiveness is a dangerous virtue. It will try to curb you, destroy your happiness, make you hate yourself and leaves you nothing but a broken heart. Love heals the wounds, brings out the best in you and accepts your fault.

I am not here to compare love with possessiveness. But these are things I learned over years and just wanted to share this on valentine’s day.

I don’t have an inspiring love story neither do I have a happy ending love story to tell you. Not this year at least. May be next year I will be writing my own “Happily lived ever after” Love story. Once your heart is open, you can find it filled up with hope, love and all the beautiful things you can ever imagine. Close your heart and you will have all pessimism, hatred filling up your heart and soul.

Now since this is valentine’s day special, let me just share just a small quote on love:

I have a heart which love you with all the broken pieces.

My heart is shattered and is bleeding love

You try to crush them to pieces

And it still loves you with all the broken pieces….

Yes Plussss +++++++++++

A friend of mine Vinod did Art of living course(YES plus) and was pestering me to join the program. I was in no mood to do anything. And spirituality was never my thing and philosophy, whats that?

“You have to do it dear.. It’s an awesome experience”

“What kind of thing is Art of living?, Isn’t that something to do with Sree Sree Ravishankar?”

“Yes, you will love it. It’s not just yoga and spirituality”

“Then whats it about? And I don’t believe in human Gods.. I don’t think its a good idea to do it”

And the pestering continued and almost a year later, Vinod convinced me to go for Yes+ course. My best friend Preeja was happy to join in.

It was the most wonderful 6 days of my life. Six days packed with fun and laughter. A rendezvous with 2 wonderful teachers. Ashwin ettan and Shalini chechi..

Shalini chechi and Ashwin ettan

There were 16 of us for that particular session. On the day of joining, each of us had to fill up a form with few questions and instruction to be followed for the coming week. One by one we met either of our teachers. Shalini chechi gave me instructions and asked me about the answers I gave in form.

“How much committed will you be during the course?”

“Well!!” I started of “I do not know, I came here to see whats happening”

“Will you give your 100%?”

That is something I always like. I am not bragging, but I like to give my 100% in everything I do. Be it my carrier or personal things. So obviously my answer was “Yes, I will”

The classes started with little yoga, mediation, games and fun. I actually started looking forward for the classes from the very start. I will not write everything about the classes, it will ruin your experience. The only thing I can tell is, its an awesome experience. I do not know how to put it in words as it is something beyond words.

I am usually a happy go lucky person. Yet I had few things which bothered me. Yes plus helped me to think of a solution and helped me calm down. Another good thing about the course is, I got a bunch of good friends.

Thank you Vinod :) I really owe this to you. Thank you Preeja. Without you I don’t think I would have ever joined Yes plus :)

A biryani’s story…

Oru biryani yude katha…

A boring holiday at  PG.. 4 girls fed up with Aunty’s food.. And most important ingredient of the story “hunger”.

4 girls in PG were bored to death as there was nothing much to do on an unexpected holiday. And around 1 pm, they saw their lunch… Yuck!!!!!! Rice, cabbage, some watery curry and lime pickle..

“Oh!! same old food. Wish I could eat a biryani” ,Arfu said.  There was a choas among the girls. All of sudden everyone wanted the same.

Ready… Set… wait, where to go?? It was decided they will go to Ceylon Bake house. One of the restaurants which sells the best birayani in the city.  Here we go to the CBH.

CBH was crowded and none of the tables were empty. You can guess, how good the biryani there tastes. We wanted biryani so badly and there wouldn’t be anything left to eat at PG now. We quickly decided to eat Kaayies..  They sell the best kozhikodan biryani. Now to Kaayies in a auto.

Me and Preeja have been there before. We both were searching for the exact place we sat last time. Anyways it turned out that there was no biryani there. It was already 3 pm. Still we could have had ghee rice or chappathi or something else. But Biryani was not there. And we desperately wanted to eat Biryani and ONLY biryani.

We came out of Kaayies and were thinking what next. “Why don’t we go for Naushad‘s resturant?” Preeja. Me and Archana agreed with her. Arfu just wanted biryani.  Now in an auto we were off to “Naushad Big Chef”.

Closing time of the restaurant is 4pm. And it was already 3.30pm. Somehow we managed to get a seat. The menu read Rs.160 for chicken Biryani. “Its too costly, we will try half plate then”

“4 half plate birayni’s please” -Archa

“We don’t serve half plate biryani, only full”

“okay then, 4 biryani please”

“Something to drink?”

“Wat do u have?”

“Lime, mint lime, fresh juice…”

Preeja and me almost shouted “mint lime”. We both were searching for mint lime for a long time.

“make it 4″

“Thank you for coming to NBC, your orders are placed”.

In 10 minutes, 4 bowls with steamy birayani was at our table.

“Amount is too less” Archa

“yeah, for Rs 160, it is too less” Preeja

“sob sob” Arfu

“its toooo lessss”, me

We started eating. I must say it was best biryani I ever had in my life. The quantity was good enough for a person with good apatite.  Meantime, they gave us our mint lime. Green in colour, tasted more of Kiwi fruit. Tastiest mint lime ever had.

Biryani was worth for Rs 160.  We calculated so it will cost us around 800 Rs max. Thats alright, 200 per head.

Bill came, we could round it to Rs 1000. “WHAT?????”. Mint lime had cost us Rs 70.  Whole biryani digested then and there. We paid the bill with sad face and came out.

But the biryani is worth 160 and we all did have a sumptuous lunch. :)

Our trip for biryani did have a happy ending.
